Szeged
Kendo
Association

Turning an outdated association website into a clearer, more approachable digital home for members and newcomers.

Role

Visual Designer · Web Designer · Developer

Scope

UX · Information Architecture · Web · Social · Print · SEO

Context

Active sports association · Szeged, Hungary

The old site functioned more like an archive than an active entry point to the association.

Information was difficult to scan, visual hierarchy was weak, and the experience gave newcomers little guidance on where to begin.

The redesign focused on clarity: surfacing training information, creating an obvious path for beginners, and giving the association a more current and credible digital presence.

From fragmented information to a focused path forward.

The new homepage prioritises the questions a visitor is most likely to have: what the association is, when training happens, whether beginners are welcome, and how to get started.

Structure the site around decisions, not around the archive.

The navigation was simplified into a small set of purposeful destinations, with beginner information and training details treated as primary content rather than secondary information.

01 Home

Immediate orientation and the main calls to action.

02 Training

When, where and how regular practice works.

03 For beginners

A clear starting point for people new to kendo.

04 News

Current association activity without dominating the experience.

05 Contact

Direct route to the association and first visit.

Restrained, functional and recognisable.

The visual language uses a compact palette and strong contrast to keep information readable while retaining the serious, disciplined character of the sport.

Tone Direct, disciplined, approachable.

A clearer digital front door.

The redesigned homepage introduces the association immediately, then gives visitors direct access to training times and beginner information without forcing them to search through old content.
